PBSI FBS Implores Lecturers to write in International Journal
FLA-KARANGMALANG – The demand to develop the teachers’ quality in university needs more attention. Not only research administration and community service, one other thing which should be given attention is the publication of the research and the community services in indexed journal, especially international journals. There is a lot of the researches which are conducted by the lecturers have not yet well-publicized. Those are some crucial points presented by Dr. Wiyatmi, M.Hum., as the head of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) Department, Faculty of Language and Arts, Yogyakarta State University (PBSI FBS UNY) at the “Workshop Penulisan Artikel di Jurnal Internasional” on Tuesday (29/3/2018) at 2nd Floor Seminar Room of GK 1 FBS UNY.
“We need to implore the lecturers to prepare articles in international journal.” Said Wiyatmi in the opening session of the workshop. According to her, Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) program has a high potential. What is needed is a push which will make the lecturers to prepare articles from their research, which can be later publicized in international journal. UNY gives the lecturers who publicize their research results in international journals a massive facilities.
“In 2018, Faculty of Languages and Arts will conduct five international conferences.” add Wiyatmi. One of those conferences is the International Conference of Interdisciplinary Language, Literature, and Education (ICILLE) on 10-11 October 2018 in Yogyakarta. This international conference will be conducted by the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program. This conference planned to bring Elizabeth Hartnell from the University of Melbourne, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mawar Safei from The National University of Malaysia, Hywei Coleman from University of Leeds, and also Prof. Dr. Suminto A. Sayuti as well as Prof. Drs. Herman Dwi Surjono, M.Sc., MT., Ph.D., who are from UNY.
The Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Yogyakarta State University aims that there will be 30 articles from the program’s lecturers which will be publicized on the international conference. “This means that almost all the lecturers are driven to publicize their research results in the upcoming conferences conducted by UNY.” said Wiyatmi.
