The International Students of State University of Yogyakarta shared their experiences in BIPA class of Indonesian Language and Literation Education Study Program
FLA-Karangmalang. Five international students of State University of Yogyakarta shared their experiences in the Indonesian Language and Literation Education Study Program class. The international students are the students who came from Burundi, Laos, Chinese, Uganda and Turkmenistan. They shared their experiences on how they became the students of BIPA and lived in Indonesia. Besides, there were two teachers of BIPA from Alam Bahasa who are once a graduate students of Indonesian Study Program and now become teachers of BIPA. They shared their experiences on teaching BIPA and how they ‘fall in love’ with BIPA.
Dr. Ari Kusmiatun, M.Hum. explained that the activities is aimed to give knowledge for the students of BIPA class as well as motivate the students of Indonesian Language and Literation Education Study Program therefore they can be more enthusiastic to develop themselves in BIPA. Moreover she explained that the enthusiasts of BIPA class this year has improved significantly. From only 2 classes last year, it becomes 4 classess this year with 30 students in each class. On top of that there are actually some students who want to join BIPA class, however it is not possible because the quota is overload.
Eni, one of the students in BIPA class, admitted that she has been interested in BIPA before she became the student of State University of Yogyakarta. She is interested in BIPA because BIPA is a means to learn and share various cultures. In addition, another student of Indonesian Language and Literation Education Study Program, Rizky, told that he chose the BIPA class because he is curious, wants to know BIPA deeper and finally he feels comfort and content learning in BIPA class. They hope there is BIPA Study Program in master program so that they can continue their master education in that study program.
Currently BIPA program itself has become an interest program in Indonesian Language and Literation Education Study Program aside from Jurnalism and Material Development. This program consist of 10 credits which are: Pemahaman Lintas Budaya; Desain Pembelajaran BIPA; Evaluasi Pembelajaran BIPA; Pengembangan Bahan Ajar BIPA; dan Magang BIPA. With the credits offered in BIPA class, it can help the students of Indonesian Language and Literation Education Study Program to have BIPA teaching competence and to prepare Indonesian ambassadors through BIPA learning process.[translate: denok/evanda]
